Once again BAFS presents a 35mm screening of a  film that begs to be seen in a movie theater on the BIG SCREEN. Last years Secret Screening "DEMONS" played with the boundaries between the audience and film itself and, we have a feeling, that this one will as well. Also vintage 35mm trailers and other surprises will play before the film.

THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE - 40th Anniversary 4K Restoration - October 23 & 27

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 40th Anniversary 4K Restoration

40 years after it was first released, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is still a sweaty, desperate, urgent masterpiece, a film that feels like it was made by lunatics, a movie that vows to unleash chaos and anarchy on the world. A movie that's still uncomfortable to watch.
A movie the still makes an impression.

The history of the restoration of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been almost as legendary as the history of the film itself. Long caught up in litigation due to conflicts with the first distributor, the film moved to New Line and in the early 90's the original film elements were found in a brown paper bag in the New Line vaults. Dark Sky Films has undertaken a series of transfers and restorations since then, but none of them equal the scope or intensity of this 40th Anniversary restoration. This is the only transfer of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to go back to the original 16mm A/B rolls and have all audio and digital color grading and supervision done by Tobe Hooper.

See it like you have never seen it before... and if you have never seen it... WHAT THE HELL!

BORGMAN - July 10

A dark suburban fable exploring the nature of evil in unexpected places, BORGMAN follows an enigmatic vagrant who enters the lives of an upper-class family and quickly unravels their carefully curated lifestyle.

Charming and mysterious, Camiel Borgman seems almost otherworldly, and it isn't long before he has the wife, children and nanny under his spell in a calculated bid to take over their home life. However, his domestic assimilation takes a malevolent turn as his ultimate plan comes to bear, igniting a series of increasingly maddening and menacing events.

From acclaimed writer/director Ti West (THE INNKEEPERS, THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) THE SACRAMENT follows two Vice Media correspondents as they set out to document their friend’s journey to find his missing sister. They travel outside of the United States to an undisclosed location where they are welcomed into the world of “Eden Parish,” a self-sustained rural utopia, comprised of nearly two hundred members. At the center of this small, religious, socialist community is a mysterious leader known only as “Father.” As their friend reunites with his sister, it becomes apparent to the newcomers that this paradise may not be as it seems. What started as just another documentary shoot soon becomes a race to escape with their lives.
