We Are Still Here (2015)

After the tragic death of their son Bobby in a car accident, Anne (Barbara Crampton) and Paul (Andrew Sensenig) have decided to move to a new home in New York in the hopes that it will bring them some closure. Paul especially hopes that it will be therapeutic for Anne, as the death has hit her particularly hard and caused her to spiral into a deep depression. However almost as soon as they arrive Anne claims that Bobby's spirit is present in the house and she goes so far as to enlist the help of her friend May (Lisa Marie), a self-professed psychic, and her hippie husband Jacob (Larry Fessenden) in order to make contact with him. As strange events begin to occur in the house, Anne and Paul's neighbors begin to hint that the house has a dark past that has claimed the lives of several others.

A PIGEON SAT ON A BRANCH REFLECTING ON EXISTENCE - JUNE 10th

A Pigeon Sat On A Branch Reflecting On Existence

Like modern times' Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Sam and Jonathan, two travelling salesmen peddling novelty items, take us on a kaleidoscopic wandering through human destinies. This film consists of everyday and out of the ordinary stories portraying our existence in its grandeur and pettiness, beauty and tragedy, exaggeration and sadness... - with a panoramic view, as if told by a bird reflecting on human condition. The pigeon is astonished by humans, their activities, follies, prides and all this agitation, the meaning of which it seeks to understand. The film creates a tension between the banal and the essential, the comic and the tragic - to show the dialectic and dynamic nature of existence, while shaping the thought that mankind is potentially heading towards apocalypse, but also that the outcome is in our hands.

ROAR (1981) - MAY 13

Roar (1981)

An unprecedented and wholly unpredictable action-adventure, ROAR follows wildlife preservationist Hank ( Noel Marshall), who lives harmoniously alongside a menagerie of untamed animals, including cheetahs, elephants, lions and tigers on a preservation in the African plains. When his wife and children (Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith) arrive for a visit, a long-brewing battle for dominance between two lions erupts and threatens their very lives.

$5 for CFS members, $10 for non-members.

THE DUKE OF BURGUNDY - APRIL 22

The Duke of Burgundy

Day after day, Cynthia (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and Evelyn (Chiara D'Anna) act out a simple yet provocative ritual that ends with Evelyn's punishment and pleasure. As Cynthia yearns for a more conventional relationship, Evelyn's obsession with erotica quickly becomes an addiction that may push the relationship to a breaking point.
Dripping with eroticism and dread, The Duke of Burgundy is a darkly decadent melodrama from Peter Strickland, the award winning writer and director of Berberian Sound Studio.
