V/H/S - OCTOBER 25th

V/H/S
co-presentation with the Charlotte Film Community

When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.

Thursday, October 25th at 7:30pm

   $5 for CFS members, $8 for non-members.

HOUSE - OCTOBER 18th

HOUSE
co-presentation with Mutanville Productions and Janus Films

How to describe Nobuhiko Obayashi’s 1977 movie House? As a psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby Doo as directed by Dario Argento? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home, only to come face to face with evil spirits, bloodthirsty pianos, and a demonic housecat. Too absurd to be genuinely terrifying, yet too nightmarish to be merely comic, House seems like it was beamed to Earth from another planet. House is one of the most exciting genre discoveries in years.

Thursday, October 18th at 7:30pm

   $5 for CFS members, $8 for non-members.
