At Back Alley Film Series, we’re ‘REEL gorilla.’ What does that mean?
It means finding the most unusual movies wherever they’re being made in the world—and sometimes that’s just down the street. It means screening them right here in Charlotte at a comfortable, modern theater. It means finding and loving and making available films you will not see at any other venue in Charlotte.

From the people who brought you the fully restored version of Metropolis (1927) and the provocative Dogtooth (2009), BAFS is a film series that is guaranteed to get you talking—maybe even while you’re still in the theater.

The Charlotte Film Society is a non-profit organization that has been screening diverse foreign, arthouse and independent films for the Charlotte community since 1982. Our mission is to bring alternative, interesting, unique and fun films to Charlotte that otherwise would not play in the area. Charlotte Film Society members pay only $5 per BAFS screening.
